Feeling Crafty

Now that things with Watching Me Grow have slowed down after the holidays I have been working on a few projects of my own.  Thank you Pinterest!

New curtains for the living room window!  I found a great tutorial on how to make my own roman shades and there is NO sewing involved!  I have only finished one shade, so I will post a complete picture (hopefully soon)!

I also put away the Christmas decorations and needed something new for the mantle.  So, I made these cute little snowmen (found here) and then added some winter subway art.  I am still waiting for my sign "Let it Snow" from It's The Thought to complete the look.  

In the next couple of weeks I will be trying some new things with Watching Me Grow.  I need to add the ruffle bum options for girl onesies and I am brainstorming some ideas for the boy option!  I am also hoping to make Braden his own alphabet set, including lower case letters which I attempted just before Christmas!  

Vacation Day # 2

Sage and I enjoyed a nice relaxing morning.  We slept in and then caught up on some TV.  

Then I had some frosting and filling to finish up for cake decorating class.

Then we went on another walking adventure - this time we explored the woods behind the house.  It was nice to actually have the snowshoes today!

                                         

Then after lunch I worked on cutting out numbers in the neutral fabric for my next set of onesies.  I will worry about sewing them on once I actually receive another order!

I am really enjoying my daily walks with Sage and being productive through out the day.  We'll see what the rest of the week has to offer.  Hopefully, I can find the motivation to get some school work done!

Vacation Day # 1

     The first day of vacation was pretty productive.  I already spent most of the weekend cleaning the house from top to bottom.  In the morning I focused on baking.  I had cupcakes to make for cake decorating class tomorrow and then I finished off the leftover whoopie pie mix.  I still have a flavored filling to make and a batch of frosting, which I will finish tomorrow.  

     After lunch I decided to take Sage outside for a nice walk in the snow.  Unfortunately, the smaller set of snowshoes were in Mike's car, so we had to do without.  We managed quite nicely, because the snow was already packed down from other snowshoers.  Sage certainly enjoyed the freedom and was running around all over the place.  We just don't make it out to the trails very much in the winter time (too cold for me)!  Afterward I even found the motivation to get on the treadmill for a bit.  Then finished off some errands, enjoyed some dinner and now I am ready for bed!  

     Hopefully the rest of this week will be just as productive and I can get some school work accomplished!  We shall see...

Snow Day!

  

     For the first time ever, school was canceled the night before the storm.  Everyone was home to enjoy a snow day today (although technically Jon was still working)!  Because of the storm our doctor's appointment was rescheduled.  So, no new baby photos until next week.  

     Mike was feeling quite motivated today: cleaned out the fridge and went outside to build an igloo.  I ventured outside briefly to take pictures of Sage and Mike.  I love watching Sage try to run full speed in the deep snow! 

      I was not quite that motivated today, but I did manage to get some scrapbooking done.  Other than that it was a pretty lazy day!  

More Weekend Projects

I was really looking forward to this weekend, because I did not have a lot of school work to do (because we only have school three days this week). So, I knew I would have time to work on little projects that I actually wanted to. First, I cleaned the house top to bottom (not something that I wanted to do), but was happy to get it done! Then I pulled out the sewing machine...

The first project requires a little explanation. When we first moved into the house Mike kept his uniforms hanging in the garage. But, now that it is much colder outside he needed a new place to keep his stuff when getting ready for work. So, we put a coat hanger next to the washing machine/dryer in the downstairs bathroom. But, he still does not have a lot of room for t-shirts, hats, gloves, etc. So, I used a tutorial for a bedside hanger, which could be attached to the washing machine. We'll see how it works.

While I had the sewing machine handy I decided to whip up a valance and privacy curtain for the downstairs bathroom as well. I was happy with the end result! Mike also managed to use the sewing machine this weekend as well. Because it was nice and snowy this morning, he decided to make Sage a little sweater, so they could go walking in the woods. He used an old hat of his to create his masterpiece.

Finally, our weekend would not be complete with out Mike working on the basement. He decided to put together a little video for his brother, so I thought I would share it as well. He is probably not going to like the fact that I posted it! Enjoy!

Legacy Lodge

Last weekend Mike and I left Sage with his parents and enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend with my family in Harrison, ME. We stayed at my second cousins summer home, which is on Sebago lake. It was my mom, grandmother, my siblings, Mike and I and then my Aunt Sherry and her children with their spouses and children. We had a lot of fun! The house was AMAZING! We were each split up into different bedrooms, which had their own bathrooms. Each family provided meals, so there was plenty of delicious food. Then there were, of course, plenty of board games, video games, pool, fooseball, movies in the theatre, and other entertainment to keep us occupied. There was especially, a lot of singing going on between Singstar karaoke and Rock Band. The weather was really nice and quite warm for March, which did was not so good for ice fishing, skating, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Five of us ventured out onto the lake on Saturday. Ingrid, Sherry, Mom, Jon and I had the snowshoes and Mike had his cross country skiis. We went on the lake, but we soon decided to turn around, because the snow was melting. As soon as we sunk our foot into the snow a little bit of water would creep up. It certainly did not make us feel very safe. We figured that it was the snow melting on top of the frozen lake, but we did not want to take any chances. Unfortunately, we did not make it all the way back to the lodge without an incident. I of course ended up being the lucky one to end up in the water. It was my own fault, because I decided to take a look at Jason's ice fishing hole. After I snuck a peek I then started to head to more solid ground, but the snow underneath me broke away and I fell (and screamed)! Fortunately, I landed on my butt, on top of the snow that did not break away. But, I was soaked up to my knees. Luckily, it was not the lake water, because that would have been MUCH COLDER! My mom made her way over and helped by lifting me up. Here are a few photos from that adventure (none of me in the water of course, because my mom was more worried about getting me out than snapping a photo - thanks mom!).

With the help of my family I was also able to finish a major part of the wedding invitations this weekend. Here are a few more pictures of us working on the invitations, playing games and enjoying the food.
