It has been so much fun experiencing different foods with Braden, watching his reactions to new foods (good & bad) and helping him master new skills! 

Videos: Fun Sounds

Had some time to upload and go through a few of the videos we have taken of Braden.  I intended to post them on the blog every once in a while, but that certainly didn't happen.  So, I am going to write up a few posts of my favorite videos.  The first one is a combination of some of my favorite videos of Braden's noises, babbles and giggles.

Some Pinterest Easter Decor

I have tried some really great recipes from Pinterest, but it had been awhile since I completed a craft project.  So, I decided to go with a couple of Easter decorations.  This basket was a lot of work and my fingertips are really sore, but I am happy with the way it came out.

Feelin' Crafty

I have been working on a few little projects from Pinterest.  I found some great ideas especially for Valentine's day!  

Chocolate covered strawberries for the Super Bowl.  Dairy free version for me!

The homemade Butterfinger recipe is delicious!!

Unfortunately, not all of my projects were a success.  I tried making an infinity type wrap dress, but the measurements just didn't work out.  So, onto another project...

Finally, I have also been working on a little photo project designed by Clare Norton Photography.  She has created different themes for each day during the month of February.  Check out some of the photos on Facebook.

Seven Month Birthday

A little summary of the month:

* sitting up all by himself

* trying and enjoying all kinds of different foods: sweet potato, squash, apples, pears, mangos, green beans, carrots, papaya, peas (yuck), and watermelon

* his second tooth came in on the bottom

* eating two solid food meals a day: afternoon & evening

* learned to clap

* loves playing in the exersaucer
* blowing raspberries
* babbling - baa baa baa sounds

* enjoys splashing around and playing with toys during bath time

* enjoys sitting up and riding in the cart when grocery shopping

* went out in the snow for the first time

* went snowshoeing with daddy 

*  15 lbs 15 oz, 28.5 inches

Six Month Birthday

I am a little delayed with this post... but it's Braden's 1/2 birthday.

A little summary of the month:

* sitting up in a high chair

* supported sitter

* opened a bank account

* shows excitement for a bottle and a bowl of solid food

* celebrated first Christmas

* eating solid foods: bananas (yum), avocado (yuck)

* brief periods sitting by himself

* more regular nap schedule & longer sleep periods

* first tooth

* tried Mommy & Me yoga

* 16 lbs 2 oz, 28 inches

Memory Jar

I found this memory jar idea on Pinterest and loved it!  What a great way to remember and reflect on the past year.  I am hoping that we will keep up with it, so that we can enjoy the memories on New Years Eve.  If so, I am sure there will be plenty of things in the jar that we would normally have forgotten about.

I even wrote a little poem explaining the jar for guests who may want to participate as well.

A new year has come, 2012 is such a mystery.

But, before we know it the year will be history.

Unfortunately, the time passes us by way too fast

So we have found a way to help make the memories last.

On each piece of paper we’ll write things to remember

We will continue to do so from January to December.

Lists of adventures, stories that make us laugh or cry

Please don’t hesitate, just give it a try

In this little jar they will safely stay

Until it is time to enjoy and reminisce on the next New Years Day!

I made my jar way more complicated than it needed to be and it didn't come out as nicely as I would have liked.  But, it is what goes inside the jar that is more important than the outside!

Step 1: Found a glass jar & had Mike cut a hole in the lid.

Step 2: Created a small slit by hot glueing a piece of cardboard onto the inside of the lid.

Step 3: Cover the lid & patch up the slit with some fabric.

Ended up using a bigger piece (approx. 8x8)

Used pinking shears around the edges & hot glued to the lid

Step 4: Screw the lid back onto jar & secure with an elastic (or ribbon)

Step 5: Print title and poem on card stock & tape to the outside of the jar.

Now the jar is sitting on our mantle with scraps of paper ready for some memories!
